Celebrate Women's History Month with YWCA National Capital Area!

March is Women’s History Month!

From our adult education and mental health initiatives to our youth mentorship programs, celebrating and empowering women is what we do best. This month and always, we’re committed to uplifting women, girls, and families in our community through comprehensive services, advocacy events, and programming.

Here are some ways YOU can help us celebrate Women’s History Month!

  • For any DC locals and museum lovers, pay a visit to the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum’s Women’s History Month exhibit entitled “Becoming Visible,” an interactive digital exhibition launching March 8 on International Women’s Day. The exhibition will invite audiences into the work of the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum that spotlights how women’s histories have been recorded, remembered, lost and recovered.

  • Listen to a podcast centered on celebrating and empowering women! Here are a few of our favorites:

    • Life, I Swear Podcast – In this podcast, Chloe Dulce Louvouezo interviews Black women and centers their personal stories that offer universal insight. Listen for vulnerable reflections from Black women about trials in their lives that have helped them heal, connect, and process.

    • The Hidden Economics of Remarkable Women (HERO) Podcast – A Foreign Policy series about women creating change through economic empowerment, hosted by Reena Ninan.

    • We can Do Hard Things Podcast – On We Can Do Hard Things, Glennon Doyle, her wife Abby Wambach, and her sister Amanda Doyle do the only thing they’ve found that has ever made life easier: Drop the fake and talk honestly about the hard things.

    • Black Girl in Om Podcast – In this podcast, founder and host Lauren Ash sits with guests from various industries to talk about all things self-care and self-love for Black women and women of color.

    • The Hey Girl Podcast – Author Alex Elle created The Hey Girl Podcast to embrace sisterhood and tell stories. Listen for discussions on everything from sexual health and civil rights to collective grief and ancestral guidance.

Thank you for supporting our gender and racial justice work each month!
