Support for Survivors of Domestic Violence

YWCA National Capital Area is on a mission to empower survivors of domestic violence to break through to the lives they want to lead.

We connect survivors of domestic violence to financial empowerment training -- to help recover from previous financial abuse and empower survivors to thrive. Working directly through domestic violence shelters and service providers, we train survivors on financial topics including saving, budgeting, credit, buying and renting, in addition to financial considerations unique to survivors. Each person who completes the training is provided the funds to open a savings account.

We are always looking for volunteers to support this training initiative. No financial expertise necessary! We'll train you in all of the tools you need. To learn more about becoming a volunteer trainer contact

We're able to provide the savings account with the help of supporters! It takes $125 to open each new account. You can support this effort with a donation here.
