Volunteer With Us

Our work is powered by incredible volunteers -- individuals committed to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.  Join us, and help your neighbors access critical education & training opportunities, cultivate confidence in youth, and be a champion for social justice.

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED:

Adult Education Instructors and Tutors - we are always looking for teachers, tutors and mentors to work with our adult students. Teachers with classroom experience provide vital instructions. We also offer 1:1 tutoring and mentoring, and are also staring group sessions. Tutoring and mentoring commitments are up to the individual. We would like to work with your schedule to make it work.

Mock Interview / Workshops - our Career Education & Training Center students are always looking for opportunities to practice interviewing, and improve on their public speaking. We like to host mock interview days at the YWCA and ask for local professionals to participate, OR, we like even more to bring our students out into the workplace, and have these sessions, combined with any relevant workshops at your location.

Youth Mentoring - our EMPOWERgirlz program pairs middle and high school girls with near peer mentors (college age or recent graduates) who participate in group activities and develop a one-on-one relationship with their mentee. Volunteers are asked to commit to regular communication with their mentee and participation for the duration of the school year.

Outreach & Special Events - we are always looking for individuals who want to be an ambassador for the YW at events throughout the community. We also host various events throughout the year where volunteers lend a hand with everything from set up to greeting visitors.

Advocacy - be a voice for social justice. Advocacy volunteers have marched for racial justice, stood up for paid family leave, and help us raise awareness of the issues that matter to women and girls in our community.

Special Projects - preparing holiday food donations, helping to organize professional attire donations for our career education students, lend an extra hand on one of many one-time initiatives to help women & girls reach personal, professional, and educational success.
