EMPOwERgirlz

Empowering young girls through mentoring, prevention, opportunities, education, and Leadership while providing access to resources that foster self-realization, academic excellence and optimal health and well-being.

The YWCA NCA establishes one-on-one relationships between mentors from the community and each individual student in the program. These mentors attend all sessions and help participants with education, self-esteem, social advocacy, and achievement. This holistic approach to education ensures that the students within the "EMPOwERgirlz" program gain access to a wide variety of resources and information regarding their futures both personally and professionally.

Congratulations to our 2015-2016 EMPOwERGirlz on a fantastic year! Check out a few photos from the closing ceremony on May 7, 2016.

A special Thank You to Teresa & Dan Schwartz, dedicated supporters of the EMPOwERGirlz Program, Donna Kearney of the Dance Place for helping the girls learn expression through African Dance and leading them through a fantastic perfomance, and last but not least the fabulous mentors and volunteers who give so much of themselves to the mentees!

** EMPOwERgirlz Youth Mentor Applications Now Open! **

Mentors will grow alongside their mentee and make a positive impact on their lives in this year-long program. During our bi-weekly sessions, participants are exposed to hands-on STEAM activities, community service projects, physical activities, field trips, one-on-one mentoring and tutoring. These services help youth develop a commitment to academic success, foster essential life skills, understand healthy and respectful relationships, and increase the awareness of social issues while building their self-esteem. We look forward to you joining our team!
