Gallery Place Fitness and Aquatics Center

    About the YWCA Gallery Place Fitness and Aquatics Center:
Healthy lifestyles for women and their families has always been integral to the YWCA's mission, and today, we offer a vast array of health and wellness related programs for all ages. On any given day, our co-ed Gallery Place Fitness Center is a beehive of fitness activity-seniors are soothing sore joints, triathletes are training for their next event, and yogis are centering their chi. In fact, our Gallery Place Center has earned a reputation for being one of the D.C. area's most comprehensive, well-staffed health and wellness facilities. If you would like to become a member of the YWCA Gallery Place Fitness Center, complete our online application and a YWCA fitness professional will contact you.

Our Center offers the following services:

  • Fully-equipped free-weight and strength machine rooms
  • Ample lockers and showers with a sauna in each room
  • Massage therapy - Includes athletic to Swedish massage
  • Spacious workout studios
  • An extensive year-round, day and evening schedule of aerobics
  • Strength training
  • Body sculpting
  • Yoga and Pilates
  • Training-for-competition classes
  • Karate for adults and youth
  • Special workshops
  • Social networking opportunities among members

The YWCA believes fitness centers should be available to the entire community, however, very few offer rates that are affordable to everyone. Fitness centers are usually considered a luxary. In today's world, they are quickly becoming a necessity. The growing obesity rate among Americans is a known health risk. Communities must educate citizens about what it means and what it takes to live a healthy lifestyle. At the YWCA Galler Place Fitness Center we are working towards providing membership rates that are affordable to low-income individuals and offering a top quality health and wellness facility. To combat the increase in obesity, we would also like to empower the whole family to workout together with exercise programs tailored to mom, dad, and the kids.
